Not your average sol meet

I wanted to post information for a possible meet. I think this would be fun for many and as a del sol meet. Oregon SCCA is hosting a Novice school. This is autocross, and if anyone doesn't know what that is, keep reading. Autocross is a racing event hosted in a parking lot where a timed corse is outlined with cones. No worry about walls, or spins, just cone marks. On April 22 at Portland International Raceway in Oregon there will be a special event to where you will receive one on one seat time with an instructor in your street vehicle or race car rain or shine. Learning to drive, or improving on you current skills. You drive this event, with the instructor possibly driving once or twice. This is an all day event, that costs $50. (cost information pending) I do think that this event is limited to 50 entrants so preregistration is reccomended. I am unsure about spectators are welcome to watch the fun, but more information will be posted when I receive it. I got about 15 runs for the entire day, not to mention valuable drving experience and tips. It would be a cool meet to swamp this event with a fleet of del sols. i think i'd be down to do a sol train down there from seattle. I cant get in on the autox though cuzz of my 3rd gear but i've been meaning on making a trip out of state with the sol. anyone else down?!?!

Im in too, Im driving down to San diego for spring break with my GF so I should be good for a meeting and a drive to OR, count me in for that saturday

I have ran this type of autox, and you really don't get out of 2nd gear. I have barely touched 3rd for about 2 seconds, and I have that close gearing trany.

Here is the lowdown of the event if your interested in participating. Just a few things from the registration paper I have. I'm sure you all are welcome to visit, watch, and meet even if you don't buy in, (checking to make sure) There is a registration paper, that I will try to get copies downloadable, or printable for you to send in, but they will need to be sent asap. I will talk with some of SCCA people here to get a pdf form on the site for this event.

Cost $50 per person. Only 36 spots available, first register, first reserved. (it will fill fast)

Location: PIR South Paddock, see www.oregonregionsolo2.com for directions.
Schedule: 730 Sharp, check in and tech
730-830, course is open for walking. Instructors will be on hand to walk as well.
830-845 Drivers meeting
845-900 First cars go to grid, First workers to their stations. (split into 2 groups).
900-1200 Morning runs
1200-1245 Lunch (bring lunch)
1245 Afternoon runs
330 session ends
